Scheduled
In our previous maintenance update we moved read operations to a new database cluster and we have been monitoring closely to confirm everything is working as expected. We are happy with the results and are now ready to move write operations to the same.

Rather than move all of them together we plan to do this over two separate scheduled maintenance windows. In this first window (8th July) we shall repoint the API and associated services to write their data to the new cluster.

During the second window (12th July 2021, 22.00-00.00 BST) we shall update the media servers and other call-handling components to send their data and CDRs directly to the new cluster. This also involves a slight change to the way CDRs are handled and this will not affect their format.

No negative effects should result from the move but we are dividing the work across two separate maintenance windows as a precautionary measure.

Whilst we will need to restart each component for the updated config to be applied, customers having devices configured with and correctly implementing SRV records should notice no downtime whatsoever. Click here for the Knowledge Base article on how to implement SRV records: https://support.simwood.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018822219-Configuring-DNS-SRV.

Due to the nature of the work, and it needing to be performed across multiple availability zones, service should be considered at risk for the duration of the maintenance window.

We appreciate your understanding and would like to thank you for your ongoing support. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our support team at team@simwood.com.
